I'm Listening to ABBA...

This entry is going to be random, much like the title. Just a warning, but I'm sure you're used to it by now.
I caught a picture of him standing!

In other news... Jude took his first step yesterday! And it was to me! Hooray!
Skills I forgot to list last time: Jude can play peek-a-boo. It's adorable. He can also identify some of his body parts (belly, head, eyes, mouth, teeth, tongue, nose, and of course, his penis).
My best friend, Zak, should be here any minute. He's from the Cleveland area and I haven't seen him since New Years. I have no clue what we're going to do today other than just chill.

I've been slacking again...

... on blogging that is. I'll blame school and stuff. I thought about blogging all day. I was going to sit down and do this like 12 hours ago, but then I got distracted. That happens to me a lot, I can't focus on one thing so I end up trying to do like 20 things at one time.
But anyway. Life:

  • School is good.
  • My money leftover from my financial aid is even better, but it will probably run out all too quickly.
  • I had a job interview last week with Sears Portrait Studios. I should hear back from by next week, I hope I get the job.
  • I have a butt-ton of inspiration and motivation from going to the DIY Street Fair in Ferndale last week (I went 3 times in 2 days and bought $26 worth of stuff). It was seriously the best art fair I've been to. All the people there were cool, there was lots of good beer and food, and all the bands were pretty top notch (one of the times I went was to see the Electric Six play).
  • I get to see my best friend on Sunday!

Then there's Jude (and the end of Summer/beginning of Fall)...

  • I bought him a couple new diapers over the weekend after my mum discovered a new cloth diaper store in Ferndale. She got him his new covers, which I was planning on getting anyway, and I ended up buying 2 pocket diapers (which I fell in love with instantly after using both today), new detergent, and a fleece cover from the art fair.
  • He stood on his own today for long periods of time! I think the longest was like 30 seconds. It's the first time he's lasted more than like, 2 seconds. I was so excited!
  • He gives real kisses now. Mostly to his auntie Sydney, and only to me when he wants to. He also likes to kiss inanimate objects, like his reflection in the mirror, my phone, and my knitting needles.
  • His vocabulary is off the hook. New words include: crack-ah(cracker), car(which goes brrrrrrrrrm), and na-na(banana). There's more than that, I'm sure, but I can't think of them now. He can say at least 10 words and knows many more than that.
  • He's starting to get the hang of silverware... kind of. He'd still rather use his fingers. He has also taken to grabbing a whole piece of fruit from me and eating it instead of me cutting chunks for him.
  • He's intelligent. It's hard to believe that I created him and he came out of me.

Oh, and Happy Autumnal Equinox, everyone! I plan on making a delicious harvesty feast tomorrow or Thursday.

Top 2 Tuesday!

It's been a while since I've done one of these, but this Top 2 Tuesday is exciting because I love Fall!
So here it goes, my top 2 favorite things about fall.

1) Pumpkins!
I love pumpkins. I love to cook with them; pumpkin soup, pumpkin pie, pumpkin lasagna being my 3 favorite recipes to date, maybe I'll add another awesome pumpkin deliciousness recipe to my repertoire this year. I love carving jack-o-lanterns. I love digging the guts and seeds out with my bare hands to carve them and I love roasting and eating the seeds. I just love pumpkins, end of story.

2) The way everything feels real. It may or may not make sense to people who aren't me or who don't understand everything that comes out of my mind, but something about the crisp fall air makes everything seem more realistic and better than during the other seasons. Part of it is going back to school, being on campus around people. Life is just in full gear and it's amazing.

Runners up, because fall is that great:
- The different colors of the leaves. Green is cool and all, but the diverse shades of orange, yellow, brown, red, and green are truly stunning.
- The crunch of leaves beneath my feet.
- Jumping into leaf piles.
- School.
- Cider mills.
- Hayrides.
- Halloween, of course.

So, dear readers, what are your two favorite things about Fall?

While I've got a minute...

I'm back at school! It's so exciting, except for the frustrating half hour commute with d-bag drivers, I-94 always being backed up, spending $440 on books for 3 classes, and the parking lot becoming full just as I'm about to pull into it. It's all good though, I shook my fist at the d-bags, parked on the street (kind of on the curb) and am carrying about my day. I'm retaking chem lab, I have US history up until 1877 which is starting soon, and macroeconomics online. It's only 12 credits because I didn't want to overload myself my first semester back. I can probably handle more, but we'll see.

We just got back from vacation in California on Monday morning. It was amazing! I want to move out there. I decided that doing a Shutterfly share site is probably an easier way of sharing my pictures so here's the link: http://mamapolarbear.shutterfly.com/. The password is: captainplanet. I haven't even gotten around to putting these on Facebook yet, so enjoy and leave some love!
